With a history dating back to 170 years old, the nickel silverware industry burst into bloom in some cities of Iran during the Qajar and Pahlavi periods.
Today, Boroujerd is known as the main center for making nickel silverware and engraving in Iran and is the only city that still has a number of workshops, museums, and artists active in this field.
In 2019, Boroujerd was nationally registered as the National City for making nickel silverware.
The craftsmen and artists of Boroujerd in Iran’s Lorestan Province have mastered the art of turning nickel silver alloy into applicable and decorative products through hammering and engraving techniques.
Boroujerdi artists create beautiful metal works such as trays, samovars, teapots, sugar bowls, small utensils and etc.
Lorestan Province, with diverse tourism and handicrafts, is one of the most important travel destinations for tourists in western Iran.
